New Location TBA

Posted in Home on March 3, 2010 by hotboxstudio

Just when the studio had almost reached completion the City of Lodi denied the space for “exercise/fitness/martial arts” use at the very last minute. The complex where our suite exists turns out to be zoned for “office” use only. This unfortunate situation is out of our control and the City of Lodi makes the final decision. We wish they would have told us way in advance so all this time and effort was not wasted. There are a couple of units available on the first floor but all of them are out of our budget.

With all this said, a new location is to be announced. Please stay tuned and check back often. We didn’t know what a challenge this would be and apologize again for the delay. Please let everyone know. We will make it up to you in some form or another. Thank you for your support.

Safety First

Jiu-Jitsu or Grappling can be tough training. Safety is our number one concern. We want you to keep coming back! Make it safer by following these precautions:

  • Be sure to warm up and stretch.
  • At first, go slow. Think of it as a chess match and allow your body to become accustomed to sparring.
  • TAP. You aren’t here to prove anything. Tapping means you’re learning. Sometimes people don’t tap because they don’t know they’re in danger. If you are rolling with a new person, keep this in mind before you try an exotic submission that they are not familiar with.
  • Again, leave your ego at the door.
  • Always roll with control. Don’t go “nuts.” If your partner is “going nuts,” ask him/her to calm down because you’re not feeling comfortable.
